Obituary of Jack Douglas Beaton

BEATON, Jack Douglas - Peacefully with his family by his side, Jack Beaton died at Victoria Hospital, London on Sunday, July 7, 2024.  Beloved husband of the late Sally (2019) & Jean (1992).  Loving father of Gary (Macrena), Randy (Esther), and Marilyn (Chris).   Loving step-father of Gretchen (Skip) and Jane (Todd).  Cherished grandfather of Annelise, Vanessa, Alex, Hamish, Courtney, Samantha, Joey and many great-grandchildren that he loved so much.  He is survived by his sister Joan. Predeceased by his parents Earl & Helen, brother Harry, sister Donalda, brothers-in-law Dave and Jim.

Jack was born in Toronto.  His career as a stationary engineer brought him to Sarnia.  He retired from ICI after many years of service.  Jack was always happy to gather with past ICI buddies at ICI’s annual Christmas retiree banquet.

Jack was involved with the Sarnia Outdoor Club for many years and was passionate about biking and cross-county skiing, which he did well into his 80s.  Community service was important to Jack, and he spent many years as a volunteer installing home alert devices for seniors.  Many hours were also spent helping in the pool at the Pathways Health Centre for Children.  Jack shared a love of travel with both Jean and Sally.  He visited many places across the world.

A celebration of life will be held at Grace United Church on Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 1 – 3 pm with words of Remembrance at 1:30 p.m.  A reception will follow. Jack supported many charities.  He would be happy if, in lieu of flowers, his friends made donations to a charity of their choice.  Arrangements entrusted to The McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia.  Messages of condolence & memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com
