Jack was a very pleasant travelling companion. We are Australians who first met Jack and Sally on a 2007 trip to Antarctica. The rapport was immediate and we remained in touch, travelling together again to Norway in 2014. We saw them again when they made a brief visit to Sydney as part of a larger trip. Most recently, in 2022, we travelled with Jack, then 94, on a delightful cruise on Canada’s Rideau Canal. Jack was always friendly with fellow travellers and interested in the places we visited. In the intervening years we enjoyed his frequent emails forwarding amusing attachments he had found when trawling the internet. We miss him.

The first photo is of Jack contemplating a bedroom in the Ice Hotel in Norway, December 2007. The second is Jack and Moira before boarding the Kawartyha Voyageur, Kingston, August 2022.

The family of the late Bob and Doreen LATIMER send condolences. Our Mom and Uncle Jack had frequent phone conversations over the years. We always admired how they continued to keep in touch. I remember Uncle Jack as a quiet soft spoken man. Sending love to the family. Brad, Debbie, Janice and families

Jack was my soft-spoken, kind and selfless uncle. My father Jim chose Jack as his best man. The first thing I remember mom telling us about uncle Jack was that his goal in life was to be a mattress tester. I think if Jack had got the job, we’d all be getting a good night’s rest. Jack’s beloved grandchildren were always his favourite topic in our phone conversations.

So sorry to hear of Jack's passing. We enjoyed many times on the ski trails together, both with the Sarnia XC Ski Club and later, Lambton Outdoor Club. He was a true gentleman. Jim Belair Comox BC

Jack was one of the 1st people we met when we joined Lambton Outdoor Club many years ago. He was a cheerful and interesting guy, and keen participant in club outdoor and social events.
