Obituary of Michael Docherty
DOCHERTY, Michael – Suddenly and peacefully on Sunday September 25th, with his sons and family at his side, Michael was called home to his Lord. Michael is sorrowfully survived by his beautiful sons Julian (Lily) and Leo, his mum Mary Ann (Nan) and dad John. He will forever be loved and missed by his brother John (Crystal) and his sisters Sharon (David) and Rosemarie (Chris). He will always be a most beloved uncle to Andrew (Shannon), Jessica (Brian), Shauna (CJ), Sydney (Luc) and Keirsten (Bennett). He was a proud great-uncle to Therin and will soon smile down when Therin becomes a big brother. Michael has always been held close by his aunties and uncles in Canada and Scotland, Sally, Daniel, Mary, Sadie, Betty, Margaret, Eddie, Agnes, Rab, Trisha, Brian, Chris and Alex. He cherished all his cousins Iaian, Brendan, Steven, Martin, Louise, Graham, Drew, Yvonne, Martin John, Jason, Darren, Heather, Stephanie, Angus, Ross, Lewis, Heather, Anthony and their families as well as his extended families on both sides of the Atlantic. He will rest peacefully with his wee cousin Victoria, his grannies and grandas Docherty and Hamilton, aunts Marion and Betty, uncles Shug, Bob, Hughie, Jimmy and God-parents Danny and Rose Keenan.
Michael had a circle of friends as big as his heart and he will forever be missed. His kind and gentle nature gave and shared with us all without ever asking for anything in return. His love for those blessed to know him will carry us all through this great loss.
His Pride for his Scottish blood and his Celtic Bhoys will live on through those who shared these pleasures with him. Friends will be received at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Sunday from 6-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church (corner of Stuart & Devine, Sarnia), Monday, October 3, 2022 at 11 a.m. The funeral will be livestreamed and can be viewed by going to the link: https://youtube.com/channel/UC-J7SLoF9enNCR6dwEM--uw. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. In lieu of flowers we welcome you to ‘pay it forward’ to someone in need, as Michael would have done, support the Humane Society where he found his lovely dog Ellie or to a charity of your choice.
