My deepest condolences to all of the family.
I was sad to learn of this news, and amazed but not surprised, on the long life she lived. Mrs. Mutton was a unique and amazing lady! . She was my grade 7 and 8 tacher at Clarke public school and someone who I thought about often over the years, as she very much contributed to and influenced my life. She was so passionate about teaching, especially english and music. Over the years I have felt very fortunate to have had her as a teacher, although at the time she was very strict with discipline in the classroom. She relayed many stories of herself having been « taught by the nuns ». I have often said that with her extensive and detailed teaching of english, spelling, grammar and the origin of words, I did not learn anything further from high school or even university English classes that she had not already imparted during my grade 7 and 8 years.
I am so deeply grateful for her passion and commitment to music and teaching us to sing and to sing well! I remember saying to her that I could not sing and she said nonsense, everyone can sing....I will teach you, and she did. I am forever grateful for all the time spent singing, perfecting and performing vocal performances, and experiencing the Lambton County Music Festivals. I have often over the years heard her voice in my heard reminding me to support the breath and sound through use of the diaphragm, and to use a « three finger mouth » when singing :)
I remember her as Passionate, strong, hardworking, a little bit fierce, with a beautiful heart.
Rest well.

Mrs. Mutton was my teacher for Grades VII & VIII at Woodland Public School. And how fortunate was I? Very fortunate, for she was the best grammar teacher a child could experience. Her love of choral music put many of us students on stage at the Music Festivals, winning awards and building our confidence. Trio practices before school began, extra rehearsals, even making an LP (remember ‘Busy City’?) was some of the best memories of my senior elementary school years. Mrs. Mutton will remain my most influential teacher.
My condolences to her family. She was a beautiful lady.

We were fortunate to have Helen as a friend and supporter of the Lambton County Music Festival for many many years. We were delighted to have her join us to celebrate the 90 th Anniversary of the Festival in 2019. She was a kind and generous lady who shared her time and talents with the community.

I am writing on behalf of my mother, Doris Graham. Doris referred to Helen as a wonderful person who was a dear friend. She met Helen through Central United Church and enjoyed listening to her sing in the choir as a key member and soloist. She said Helen's home was filled with Music awards and enjoyed visiting Helen and their friends for coffee. Doris recalls participating in many fun activities with both Helen and Cliff with the Allegro Club. Helen was a competent bridge player in their Mixed bridge club. Helen was friendly to our family and always inquired about us and our kids. Helen will be remembered with love from the Graham family. To Barb and David. You are in our prayers. Mrs Mutton taught me from grades 6-8 at Clarke Public School. She had a huge impact on my life and I've always been so grateful that she was one of my teachers. I never appreciated her at the time, but I learned so much from her English classes. I think of her now and then and am sad to see that she has passed. My sympathies to her family. I'm happy to read that she had such a happy, adventurous life.

After having graduated from Albert College in 1941 as the Howard Award recipient (awarded to the top female student each year at Convocation) Helen continued to share her time, talent, and treasure with the school as an alumna.
To Helen’s family and friends; we are thinking of you at this difficult time and extending deepest sympathy. Please know that we will continue to remember Helen with a smile on our face and in our hearts.

Mrs. Mutton taught me in Grades 7 and 8 at Woodland Public School. I will always remember her. She instilled in her students the desire to be the best that we could be. I have vivid memories of participating in double and triple trios and school choirs at the May Music festivals. We practiced and practiced under the direction of Mrs. Mutton. "The tip of the tongue, the teeth, the lips," was her mantra to encourage us to enunciate. The importance of correct grammar remains with me today, no doubt attributed to the many lessons she taught us. We analysed sentences in great detail. I extend my sympathies to her family. Mrs. Mutton was truly a gifted teacher. I have no doubt that she influenced me in my career as a teacher. God bless Mrs. Mutton and her family.

Mrs. Mutton was my grade 7 and 8 teacher at Woodland School in 1970. Her school choirs, trios and triple trios swept the awards at the May Festival year after year. She was strict…but she was fair…and she was kind. She pounded grammar into my thick head. To this day, I remember every definition she made me memorize. She was the teacher every child should have and I will forever be grateful. To her family and friends I give my heartfelt sympathies. Thank you for sharing her with so many young people who had the privilege of cleaning her blackboard.
