I am so very saddened to hear of Vaughn's passing. This obituary brought tears to my eyes as I recall just how wonderful of a person he truly was. And he absolutely was, very funny. I have not spoken to him in several years, but we met and created a special bond in highschool and for many years afterwards.I met Vaughn while involved with the peer tutoring program at St Pat's. I used to pick him up from Palliative care and we would go to school together. And after school, I would often walk him back home (to the hospital). and spend an hour or two visiting him there before I wld head home for the night. He even spent several days visiting at my house, as I was just a short distance from the hospital. It was always interesting and very comical as we both struggled to get him up my porch steps and into the house lol. I always admired him for his strength and positive attitude. I used to find myself amazed at how much he could medically be going through at any given time, and still be so positive and a true pleasure to be around . He was very witty and would always have the funniest one liners. Years after high school, we still talked and saw each other often, and I remember the day he told me he was moving into the complex on wellington. He was so excited to be on his own and cldnt wait to have company over. We spent lots of time together at his new apartment playing cards. They were the biggest cards you ever saw lol, as he had sadly lost almost all his sight by that point and had a hard time seeing the regular sized playing cards. He would crank the country music (which I would always razz him about lol) and we would spend hours playing, talking, and laughing. Somehow, life got busy, we both got married, and we seemed to talk less and less over the years. Now hearing of his passing, this is a big regret. Vaughn, my dear, old friend....may God wrap his arms around you and your family tightly. My thoughts and prayers are with them, your wife, your friends, and everyone else who knew you and loved you. Thank you for being such a bright light and a good friend through the years. R.I.P. xo

Jackie, i know you must be devastated by the loss of Vaughan. We never had the opportunity to meet him but your extended family has told us that you were the perfect match for each other. The two of you have been such an inspiration to other families with Spina Bifida. May your memories give you comfort, & know that your special angel is still by your side in this journey of life until you meet again.
