Obituary of Desmond Bertram Pigott

PIGOTT, Desmond – Peacefully at Trillium Villa Nursing Home, Desmond Pigott died on March 19, 2021 at the age of 90.  Beloved husband of Mary for 63 years.  Loving father of Susan Pigott (Ken Gilbert), London, Malcom Pigott, London, Katherine Pigott, Kitchener, Mark Pigott (Mary Sue), Sarnia, Evelyn Washington (James), Kingsville and the late Neil Pigott (2004).  Cherished grandfather of Connor, Brianna, Daniel, Miranda, Tyber, Liam and Nigel.  Great-grandfather of Lillian, Caleb and Charlotte.  Dear brother-in-law of Bridie Marlborough (Mike), England, James Dolan, Joe Dolan, Denis Dolan (Phyllis) and Catherine McTigue (Hugh), all of Ireland.  Also survived by his nieces Rosemary Knight and Melanie Pigott, New Zealand.  Predeceased by his parents Lillian & Reginald Pigott and his brother Raymond Pigott.

 

Desmond was known for his wit, charm and humour.  He had great strength and resilience.  Desmond loved to garden and putter around the house.  He was a mechanical engineer and worked at Lambton College, where he set up the CAD CAM program, retiring in 1993. Desmond was responsible for innovations in aeronautical engineering.  He was a member and a volunteer for the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers and the British Institute of Mechanical Engineers. Desmond was a devout catholic and a long-time parishioner of Sacred Heart Church where he served for many years as an usher.  Desmond was proud of his British heritage but embraced Canada as his new home.  The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Trillium Villa staff for their compassion and kindness.
