Lillian Gosse

Obituary of Lillian Louise Gosse

GOSSE, Lillian Louise - With sad hearts, our family announces the passing of our precious mother Lillian on February 24, 2021 at the age of 93.  Cherished wife and guiding light of our dear father the late Henry Carl Gosse.  Devoted mother of Philip (Carole) Gosse, Patricia (Lee) Barnes, Roslyn (Glen) Giles and Sylvia (Chester) Schippke.  Loving Grandmother (affectionately called “Nanny”) to Celina, Sarah, Philip, Daniel, Christopher, Jessica, Matthew, Jennifer, David and Julia.  Proud Great-Grandmother of Luella, Esme, Nicholas, Jonathan, Livia, Tully, Ashley, Britney and Luke.  Dedicated sister to her late brother Lewis George. Predeceased by her parents Jonathan & Clara George of Bell Island, Newfoundland.

Lillian was known for her immense kindness and caring nature. She was a nurturing aunt to her nieces and nephews in Freshwater, Bell Island. ‘Aunt Lil’ enjoyed many happy times with her nieces Hazel and Rowena at Bluewater Country.  She will be greatly missed by her special sister (in-law) Lillian Dicks and the beloved Gosse clan. Fondly remembered by treasured life-long friends Ethnea Guiney and Ari and Kea Vandenheuvel.

Lillian welcomed many fortunate children into her home for wonderful care and love. She was a valued member of Marshall Gowland Auxiliary for several years. Lillian expressed her love through her extraordinary cooking and baking, and her care for those in need.

Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Peterson, NP Elliott and all staff at Rosewood Manor and Twin Lakes Terrace. Your exemplary care of our mom gave our family great comfort and peace of mind.

We will be respecting our mother’s wishes with a private family service. Honouring her dedication to the well-being of children, in lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Noelle’s Gift, P.O. Main 3334, Sarnia, ON, N7T 8G6 www.noellesgift.ca

Arrangements entrusted to the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre.  Messages of condolence & memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com.

For there is always light.

If only we’re brave enough to see it.

If only we’re brave enough to be it.

You were there when we took our first steps,

And when unsteadily across the floor.

You pushed and prodded: encouraged and guided,

Until our steps took us out the door...

You worry now "Are they ok?"

Is there more you could have done?

As we walk the paths of our unknown

You wonder "Where have my children gone?"

Where we are is where you have led us,

With your special love you showed us a way,

To believe in ourselves and the decisions we make.

Taking on the challenges of life day-to-day.

And where we go you can be sure,

In spirit you shall never be alone.

For where you are is what matters most to us,

Because to us that will always be home...
