Dear Philip (Carole), Pat (Lee), Roslyn (Glen), Sylvia (Chester) and Families
I am very saddened by the news of your Mom passing. It is hard to believe nearly fifty-five years has passed since meeting Philip at Central high school in Sarnia and forming a long lasting friendship with him and the Gosse family. Lillian was a beautiful, caring person who always invited you into her home with a smile on her face and immediately would offer you tea and something to eat. I have so many fond memories of her and your family. Your Mom will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I will be thinking of her and you. May all your good memories comfort you. My deepest condolences.
Sincerely
John Perry

Pat, Lee and family; Ros, Glen(Turkey) and family; Sylvia, Chester( the M) and family; and Philip, Carole and family;
Please accept our sincerest condolences. Nanny was truly one of a kind and I will never forget the kindness, generosity and compassion she always provided.
One of my fondest memories as a kid was waking up to scrambled eggs and fried bologna after countless sleepovers. To this day, that is a tradition I carried on with my kids and it is one of their favourite meals.
Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers.
All the best,
David (Butters), Monica Lyford and family.

Dear Lillian
I have not had the pleasure of meeting you but I have sure heard lots about you over the years from my good friend Sylvia. I know that you like colorful clothes, jewelry and always looking put together. I know you make great turkey dinners and all the trimmings and fantastic fish cakes. I also know that you raised talented, thoughtful and devoted children which has carried on through the next generations. May you Rest In Peace and know that you have made a wonderful loving contribution to all who had the privilege to be close to you.
My deepest sympathy to Sylvia, Pat, Ros and families

To all of Aunt Lil's family,
Your mom is an important part of a legacy-one that started for all of us on Bell Island, and continues here and abroad. She was a warm, caring, pleasant lady. I have fond memories watching her gently treat Lewis with much love and respect. How could I not remember such a lovely person, even though it's been so long since I have seen her.
As a great-aunt, Aunt Lil was instrumental in helping all of her nieces and nephews develop a firm sense of the depth and breadth of family. She showed us all how love transcends age, distance and time. Her passing has allowed me to relive the moments of kindness that I witnessed as a boy, and again, as a young man while visiting her home in Sarnia.
Hold your heads high my cousins, you came from great stuff.
With much love and respect,
Darroch and Bonnie Vokey

Dear Patty, Philip, Ros and Sylvia and families,
We are so sorry about the passing of your mother. Although it has been many years since I have seen Aunt Lilly, I remember her fondly in her home in Freshwater, Bell Island. As a young child it was always fun to visit her and Uncle Harry and all of you. We felt welcome at any time. She was a kind aunt to us and a dear mother to you all; I also recall her love and dedication to her brother back then.
We know that you will always miss her, but may it be a comfort to share your love and fond memories of her. Aunt Lilly brought love and joy to those who knew her.
Keeping you all in our thought and prayers,
Love,
Karen and Ken Butt

Ron and I are so sad to hear of your mom's passing and would like to send our condolences to each of you and all your families. Aunt Lilly was a true model for the words Love and Kindness because both just radiated from her whole being. The love she had for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was like no other. In fact, I truly believe that is what kept her going the past few years. I have many fond memories of growing up on Bell Island where we spent many wonderful family visits together. The one I remember and love the most was spending Christmas Day evening with them. Christmas day is always a wonderful and exciting day for children. But me, I never wanted the excitement to end and I knew it wouldn't because I knew we would end up at Aunt Lillly and Uncle Harry's after dinner. That is one day mom never had to bug me to help with the dishes because the faster they were done the faster we could get going. There, we played with our cousins, ate more awesome goodies and stayed up very late! What fun we had! Life takes us all in different directions, so I was happy when our lives connected again in Sarnia, especially when Aunt Lilly came to live at Bluewater where we lived with Hazel just 3 doors away. We spent many an evening laughing and reminiscing, over a cup of tea, about the "good old days". Ron loved it when Hazel would have a dinner party for the four of us, and she did often, so he could get in on some of the laughter too, but mostly to feast on Aunt Lilly's buns (aka dinner rolls) She also knew how much Ron loved them and always packed a few extra for him, just because that was the beautiful person she was.
We will all miss her very much! We hope you all can find some comfort knowing how much your Mom, your Nanny was loved and respected. Love to you all, Rowena & Ron xo xo

To Aunt Lilly's family,
We both are so saddened to hear of Aunt Lilly's death.
My mother and I recall many wonderful memories of her and Uncle Harry in Lance Cove/Freshwater, Bell Island, Newfoundland. Aunt Lil was the perfect hostess, and she loved children. She and Uncle Harry seemed to greatly enjoy having company in the summer, and it was such a big treat for us children to leave the center of the island and drive all that way to their house. What wonderful memories we treasure.
Many of the extended Gosse family have very fond memories of Aunt Lil. She was such a blessing to all who knew her. She loved her life, loved people, and took so much pride in her family. We will remember her with love.
May the many precious memories of your mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, and friend sustain you in your grief in these difficult days.
With our loving and deepest sympathy,
Marilyn Flower and Dorothy Vokey
