Dear Donna, Mike, Kaitlyn, Meghann, David, Lynda, Marc and the Greenwood, Hardy and Miller family,
I am so profoundly sorry to hear of Laurie’s passing. When I heard about her passing a flood of emotions and a million memories came over me. To me, Laurie was my very best friend. We were inseparable from the time we were toddlers through to university. We did virtually everything together. We went to St. Joseph’s and St. Patrick’s school together. We played baseball and won championships together. We played basketball, volleyball, badminton and track and field together. When we were not playing sports or in school, we spent most days at each other’s house tossing the baseball around, skating on our backyard rinks, playing endless games and talking about life, our plans and our dreams for the future. Laurie was the most loyal, compassionate, caring, passionate and fun loving friend you could imagine. She was a natural teacher and always encouraged me to reach beyond what I thought I was capable of doing to reach my full potential. She loved and was devoted to her family. She lived life to the fullest and cared deeply for all those in her life. I will cherish my memories of Laurie all of my life. She will always be my best friend. She will be missed greatly by all who were fortunate to have Laurie in their lives. We are all better people for having known Laurie.

Dear Mike, Meghann, Kaitlyn & Greenwood/Miller families. Please accept my condolences. Laurie was a very special teacher and individual. I only had the opportunity to work with Laurie for one year, the year Holy Trinity School opened and Laurie was instrumental in making the first year a success. She quietly spent the summer helping to design and select school uniforms, order phys. ed equipment and set up her Tiger Den. More importantly Laurie connected every student not only through her teaching but by coaching, refereeing and cheerleading activities. She did it all - with a smile and enthusiasm. She was a great staff member. Laurie loved a making things happen and I always remember her energy and leadership on the St. Joseph bell project. Whenever I encountered Laurie during her retirement years I was left feeling that very few people enjoyed retirement more because it allowed her more time to not just golf but contribute and volunteer tin her community. Laurie loved her students, family, the southend and life. She will be missed.

Mrs. Hardy was a teacher I'll never forget. Grade 7 was one of the best years I had at St. Peter's, all because of her. She was a very patient and HONEST teacher. She was passionate about sports and her teams, and she always encouraged her students to be the best she knew they could be - a soul that touched the lives of many others.
My condolences to family and friends. The world has lost a very kind-hearted and inspirational person. She will be missed, but never forgotten.

I am deeply saddened and shocked to hear of Laurie's passing.as I was completely unaware that she was not well and, I am quite certain. that is exactly how she would have wanted it as she seemed to be a very private person. I did not know Laurie very well but we crossed paths many times throughout our teaching careers with the St. Clair CDSB. The memory that comes to mind most vividly about Laurie was her tenacity and her no-nonsense approach in pursuing just causes. She could always be counted on to "fight the good fight" on behalf of her students and her colleagues. She will be missed tremendously by all whose paths she crossed. Our heartfelt condolences goes out to her family and friends.

We are so deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Laura, or Mrs. Hardy as we fondly knew her around the hockey arena. She was a dear friend to so many, always willing to lend a helping hand. She was a great role model to young hockey enthusiasts, supporting so many through her years of coaching. Her commitment and passion were second to none, and everyone who got the chance to be coached (or taught) by her will forever hold those memories close to their hearts. She will be greatly missed.

It seems like I’ve known Laurie all my life, playing ball every summer and then when I entered high school she was my bus stop buddy. A fellow St Joseph school and church alumni. She was a force to be reckoned with, Everything she did had meaning and was done with selflessness and love. Our mothers were/are close friends, southenders carried our neighbourhood with pride. She seemed indestructible. The lives she touched in her lifetime are enormous. It’s simply impossible to accept she is gone. I know Donna and indeed the entire Greenwood/Hardy family is holding tight to her spirit. She will be missed. Most people who make a difference in this world are. God promoted her to Angel. Of that I’m certain.

I was one of the lucky ones, Mrs. Hardy was my teacher not only once, but twice! She was a caring teacher and coach, and she made a big impact on so many little people. I think of her every single time I write the word “a lot” - she was so frustrated that our grade 7 class continued to write “alot” so she wrote “a” on the far left hand side of the chalk board and ran across the room and wrote “lot” on the far right side of chalk board. It was dramatic, but it stuck! I was fortunate to cross paths with her again as an adult when I began my own teaching career. It was so special to work along side her as a professional, she continued to make a difference everywhere she went. She gave the warmest hug and welcomed me in my new role.
Sending love and prayers for peace to the whole family. ♥️♥️

I was incredibly shocked and saddened to hear of Laurie’s sudden passing. I had the pleasure of working with Laurie at Holy Trinity School during my last few years of teaching before I retired. I got to see first hand the excellence of her teaching, her compassion and empathy for all children, and how much the kids loved her. I experienced her generosity and kindness as a teaching colleague. Although my parish is St. Benedict’s, we also went to some St. Joe’s masses where we would see Laurie giving of herself to her Church Community. She was a true Christian in every sense of the word. I also remember the years that she taught at St. Peter’s with my first husband, Bob Tait. Of course this brings back memories of when he suddenly died and what that felt like.....and how kind Laurie and Mike were after his passing. My sincere condolences to Mike, the girls and family members. She was a little lady with a huge presence that will be sorely missed by many. May Laurie Rest In Peace and may perpetual light shine upon her.

I love and miss you so much. You were so loving and compassionate. Always taking care of others. You made the holidays and birthdays so much fun, especially Christmas eve at the Hardy house. We talked every day and will miss my Friday afternoon text "Are you up for a beer at Stokes 6:30 ?". I would meet up with Mike and yourself, sometimes Jeff and sometimes the girls. You always asked, "How was your day ?". We talked about our mom (you took such good care of her, we were an awesome team), our families and our church (you did so much for St. Joseph's). We kept you very busy, but we knew you were tired. God had other plans. Give our Dad and brother Stephen a great big hug & kiss from all of us.

So very sorry to hear of Laura's (Greenie's) passing. I had the pleasure of playing fastball with her as well as a few volleyball games. A superb athlete and amazing sport both on and off the field and courts. Above all of that, she was always smiling and always had a kind word for all. Holding the Hardy and Greenwood families in my thoughts and prayers. Hoping you can feel her presence through your treasured memories. I am sure her light will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all she touched.
Deepest Sympathy,
Paula Norcross and Family

I am so saddened by this news. Mrs. Hardy taught me at St. Peter's in Grade 8. She would always go the extra mile for her students and you could tell she always wanted to see you improve as a student. Her work ethic and the passion she put into her teaching was one of the reasons I decided to become a teacher myself. You could tell she enjoyed helping those that needed it, and never gave up on anyone. I can still picture her saying "Once a Raider, Always a Raider" as her school spirit was second to none! I enjoyed talking to her whenever I would run into her in the community. She will always be one of the most memorable teachers I ever had.

Mrs. Hardy was such a strong confident leader and as a teacher that is exactly what a student needs. I will always remember her constructive criticism that drove me to do better, try harder. I will always remember how we shared the same first and middle name and last initial (she liked to joke about that). I will always remember when she sought me out to draw the Raiders emblem... even though I knew there were many more talented students she chose me and she’ll never know what that meant to me. I’ll always remember when I had to have surgery and she was there volunteering. She put me at ease and made me feel so much more comfortable... I was so glad to have her there. I’ll always remember the book, “A Gentleman in Moscow”... because she leant it to me before the pandemic... I’ll always remember Laura Hardy and the positive impact she had on my life. My deepest condolences to her family and friends... especially her daughters.
Go raiders Go!

Kate, from all the stories that you have told me, your mom seemed like an extraordinary woman. She did an amazing job raising you to be the smart, wonderful and caring person that you are (along with your awesome dad!). It seems like only yesterday that we were talking about her volleyball games! Words truly can’t express how very sorry I am for the loss that you and your family have experienced. I hope that your cherished memories of your time together and your immense love for her and vice versa, helps get you and your family through this incredibly difficult time. My deepest sympathy to you and your family and if I can do anything at all, please let me know. Hugs my friend.

I was heartbroken to hear about Laura's passing. She was one of the first people I got to know when I first moved to Sarnia 40 years ago and I liked her then as much as I liked her now. She was fun-loving, freindly, compassionate and committed to whatever she did. We renewed acquaintances again through the Catholic Womens League and she always had a kind word and a smile for whomever she met. She always make you feel good about your self and you felt like you were a better person for knowing her. My sincerest sympathy to her family. Godspeed, dear Laura

I was honoured to serve as a bridesmaid at Laurie & Mike's wedding. I think it was probably the only occasion that Greenie and I saw each other in a dress........ she in white and I in pink.....More often than I can count, for more ball seasons than I can remember, we were in sweaty, dirty, dusty fastball uniforms. Greenie was an outstanding shortstop and when I was on the mound, I had great confidence that not much would get past her. I last saw Laurie on the occasion of my father's funeral, and it was hard to imagine that 35+ years had passed. We talked and laughed like we did on those roadtrips - before, during, and after the game. My condolences to Mike and all of Laurie's family. May you find comfort in the memories that you share.

Aunt Laurie was a rock in our family and a glue that brought us together. A major loss to all of the positive causes she was involved with. She was a principled teacher and a guiding light to any one that crossed paths with her during her career. She will always be a strong influence to me in my career as an educator. I'll always miss our talks. Taken much too soon.

Dear Mike and family,
Our deepest sympathy. I felt honored to have worked with Laurie and witness the impact she had on her students. From her compassion and daily prayers , to one of my favorite memories ( and I have many ), but this one stood out. There were many 8 am services, at St Peters Church were Laurie would meet some of her senior students. Even sharing a morning snack after to help start their day.
Laurie you will be greatly missed !
Mike, our prayers are with you and your family.

My deepest condolences to Mike, Megan & Kate and to the Greenwood family. Lori taught one of my daughters at St Peters School and we saw each other with our families at various events throughout the years as often happens in a town like Sarnia. She was the kind of person you feel like you've always known. We both grew up in the south end of Sarnia and though I didn't know her as a child, I was lucky our paths crossed as adults. Rest In Peace Mrs Hardy.

Once a raider, always a raider. I can't remember if Mrs. Hardy ever taught me in my short time at St Peters, but she definitely had an attitude you don't forget! Years later, I was lucky enough to be her colleague, and after she retired, she refereed several of my team's volleyball games. I'll never forget, after one particularly difficult game, calling her at home to apologize for my team's behaviour and seek help as she knew many of my players. She was kind and forgiving. She encouraged me to teach my team better sportsmanship. The following week, she had a talk with them herself about the importance of being a good loser. She said, "Anyone can win. That's easy. But when you lose, it shows who you really are." She was an amazing teacher, coach and woman. I'm thankful to have known her. Sending my prayers to the Hardy family.
