My condolences to you.
George Allan was a very influential teacher in my life. I was in his class in Grade 10 and 11 at Malcolm Campbell High in 1960-62, near the beginning of his teaching career. He made the effort of encouraging my parents to send me to university, which had not been in our plans up to then. And I did go on to graduate from McGill in honours psychology and pursued a career in Human Resources and executive search. When I broke my leg on a school ski outing in grade 11, he most generously volunteered to pick me up and drive me home from school everyday. He also nominated me for the Birks medal for character and leadership that I was awarded at graduation. What an honour and a boost to my self confidence.
Mr. Allan made a very positive difference in my life and I remember him fondly.

I had a lovely lunch with George a few years back so that he could tell a few stories of his days at the College. I'm the Caretaker of the College's Archives. We did a lot of reminiscing during that lunch. He was President when I was hired and it was great that as a new hire, our Supervisor took us down to his office to meet him. The Archives have lots of moments of his impact on the development of the College. Take care and condolences. Kathi Vandenheuvel

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Allan at the College’s 50th Anniversary, and found him just delightful. I have a had many emails from people at the College who worked with Mr Allan, and they all said what a wonderful, kind and talented man he was. We sent out the notice of his passing today, and our flags will be flying at half mast in tribute to Mr. Allan and his legacy.
Our sincere sympathies,
Judith Morris

George taught first term math at Lambton when I was studying Engineering Technology back in the late eighties. Great teacher, great personality, and I found out later a great speaker when he was the one who delivered our commencement speech. Years later, whenever I ran into him at Staples or in a grocery store, he would always remember me. He'll be missed.

Dear Janet and family,
On behalf of the Sarnia Concert Association, I would like to express our sympathy to you and your family on the sudden loss of George. He was an avid supporter of the cultural events in Sarnia and as you well know a keen member of the Sarnia Concert Association for many years. His leadership in the community will be greatly missed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Dear Janet and Family,
We were very sad to hear of George's passing and want you to know that we are keeping all of you in our prayers to be comforted by many happy memories.
We were so thankful to George for putting us in touch with the Canadian Institute in Greece which resulted in a wonderful tour of Delphi several years ago.
Also, George and I shared many interesting conversations about music. The last exchange we had concerned an article in the New York Times about Beethoven. George sent the article to me and said that he couldn't understand a word of it and wondered what I thought. I replied that I couldn't understand it either and we agreed that instead of writing about Beethoven it was much better to listen to his music!!
We will look forward to attend George's memorial on line on June 6th.
Yours sincerely,
David and Marianne Nichols
