Deb and I were school friends when we both were at York University doing Fine Art in the late 70s. We then went on to do picture framing together at U Frame It in Toronto. Memories were so happy. Deb had a unique sense of humour and a wonderful sense of play. I remember that she loved plants and had (people) names for all of her different varieties
She was generous and kind. A great listener with a very positive outlook. We lost touch in the 80s when I moved to Calgary.
In my mind she will forever be that young, beautiful friend with a big heart.

I met Deb in 1977 while attending York University for Fine Arts and we became friends instantly. After graduation we both worked for U-Frame-It Ltd. Deb worked at the Yonge Street store in the north of the City and I managed the Yorkville store Downtown. The employees in the stores were mostly young artists. Deb started dating one of my good friends who worked at my store and their relationship lasted for several years, on and off. He was an artist as well and we exhibited together in a two person show at Resolution Gallery, on King Street in Toronto. The exhibition was called "The Primaries" and Deb agreed to help us out by modelling in the photo shoot for the invitation. I am the person dressed in red in the photo. Her boyfriend is in blue. The second photo was a a party at my girlfriend's (at the time) apartment. Me in the foreground and Deb sitting in the back.
The late 1970's was a pretty interesting time in the Toronto Art Scene and specifically the Queen Street West Scene. Lots of interesting artists, writers and musicians were hanging out together sharing ideas. We were involved in all of that.
I guess, my point was that Deb was pretty hip back in the late 70's, early 80's. She was involved in the art scene, dating and artist and working as a Picture Framer. The group of us had a lot of fun together! She was very talented as well! Her drawings were intriguing. She had an amazing sense of humour!
I lost contact with Deb when I left for Europe in the early 1980's. When I came back, I settled in St. Catharines and slowly all the friends dispersed around the globe. Many became very successful as artists in Canada, Spain, and the USA. I stumbled on this obituary and it really saddens me, that Deb is gone. I will treasure the memories I have of her and our times together! i have over time reconnected with many of the old group of friends and I have sent a copy of the obituary to them. They have all expressed their sadness upon hearing of your loss. I would like to express my condolences to Deb's family for their loss! Deb lit up the room she was in! My thoughts are with her family!

My dearest Deb, you have no idea just how much I will miss you and our conversations. Not sure who I will share my hummus and Portuguese tarts with now, it just won't be the same without you. Nicole and Daniel are heartbroken as am I. Rest in peace my friend.
