Additional Obit Info
On Sunday February 5, 2017 another angel joined ranks of Our Heavenly Father. Richard died peacefully at the Port Colborne Hospital in his 92nd year. Cherished husband of Germaine for more than 69 years. Loving father of Louise and her husband Al of Bayfield, Denis and his wife Carol of Wainfleet, and Mitch and his wife Jackie of Whitby. Loving Papa to Jill, Laura (Rich), Dana (Jason), Rachel (Angus), Jordie, Lauren (Mike), Katie (Chris) and Marc. Great-Grandpa to Turner, Mackenzie, Tyler, Luc, Nolan and Grant. Richard (Dick) was born on March 2, 1925, to Johnny LePage and Clara Dionne at Rivière Bleu in rural Quebec. At an early age, he left elementary school to work on the family farm. At age 14 Dick boarded a train to seek work in Sarnia, Ontario. He enlisted in the Canadian Army during World War II and served his country in Europe as a Quartermaster. Upon returning to Ontario, Richard trained as a barber because, as he once said, “Even in tough times people want to look dignified.” For more than 40 years he was the owner-operator of Dick’s Barber Shop on Mitton Street. Richard married Germaine Seguin on November 8, 1947, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Bluewater, Ontario. Over the next 69 years Richard and Germaine raised their three children in Sarnia and watched as the family expanded to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Richard led by example. He believed in hard work, providing for one’s family and sharing joy through music. His warm smile, generous heart and joy for life touched and charmed all who came to know him and it has been said that it was a privilege to be part of his life. Visitation will be held at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre Ltd. , 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 7-9 pm.
