Paul Stewart

Obituary of Paul Howard Stewart

STEWART, Paul Howard – It is with great sadness that the Stewart family announces the sudden passing of Paul Howard Stewart at Lambton Meadowview Villa in Petrolia, on December 16, 2024, at the age of 73.  Loving father of Joshua, Sarah, Scott (Nichole) and Clayton Stewart, all of London.  Cherished grandfather of Davina & Caoimhe Stewart, of London, and Everett Gorth, of Sarnia.  Dear brother of Clayton Stewart and Anne Langille (Paul), of Sarnia.  Also survived by his step-sister Heather Lalonde, of Sarnia, step-brother Mike Lalonde, of Ottawa, and several uncles and aunts, nieces and nephews, and cousins.  He was especially close to his Aunt Muriel who was more like a sister to him.  He will be forever missed by his best buddies, Frank, Fly, and Beaver.  Predeceased by his parents Stanley & Margaret Stewart, as well as his step-father Ernie Lalonde and step-brother Rob Lalonde.

Paul was born in Sarnia and grew up there with his parents and siblings. After high school, he worked various jobs in the Chemical Valley before moving up north to fight fires in Sioux Lookout where he met Robyn and started a family with her.  He was always a caring person and this was exemplified in the strong friendships and bonds he developed as a support worker at the Muriel Boyle Centre.  After spending time living in Fort Frances, Atikokan, and Thunder Bay, where he completed his BA at Lakehead University, Paul and his family moved back to Lambton County, settling in Forest for the next twenty years.  He then moved to Petrolia where he spent the final eight years of his life close to family.

Paul loved playing and watching sports.  He was a lifelong fan of the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Blue Jays, and Detroit Lions.  He enjoyed fishing and golf and would spend a lot of time outdoors with his camera.  Paul also loved the challenge of a good puzzle, whether a massive jigsaw puzzle for the whole family over Christmas, or the more personal challenges of a good puzzle book.  He was an avid reader and loved a good mystery or Ken Follett novel.  You could usually find Paul in his shed working on one project or another.

Private family arrangements followed by cremation.  A celebration of Paul’s life will be held at a later date.  Interment at Lakeview Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Sarnia.  As an expression of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations to the MS Society https://mscanada.ca/ or to Lambton Meadowview Villa https://www.lambtoncares.ca/long-term-care-homes/lambton-meadowview/ .  Messages of condolence and memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com
