Roberta Burke-Howorth (nee) Rubik

ROBERTA BURKE-HOWORTH (nee) Kubik was born on March 14, 1928 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia and died May 31, 2024 in Sarnia, Ontario. Roberta was predeceased by her parents Anthony and Frances Kubik, her siblings, Edmund (Gus), Wanda, Anita and Alfie, two husbands, Urban Burke and Ed Howorth and her great granddaughter Madison Burke. She is survived by her three sons: Mark (Kathy), Michael (Darlene) and Patrick James (PJ) Burke, stepdaughter Sandra (Neil) Goodrich, grandchildren Alaina, Daniel, Roberta, Adam, Kathleen and Sarah and great grandchildren Landon, Laughlan, Paisley, Caiden, Liam, Hailey, Maverick and Tessa.

Roberta lived a long and fulfilling life. She had many titles – daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, teacher, librarian, and friend. She excelled at them all. Upon the death of her first husband Urban, she was left to raise three rambunctious boys alone. Their success in this world is a testament to her love, guidance, understanding and, most of all, patience. She was fiercely protective of, and generous to, her extended family. Always impeccably dressed, Roberta placed others needs above her own, living selflessly, yet with grace and compassion.

Rest now Mother. We will miss you terribly, but know you are at peace and still surrounded by those you love. We will do our best to reflect the values and priorities that you so beautifully lived.

The family would like to thank the staff at Vision Nursing Home for the care and love shown over her seven year stay and especially during the palliative phase the past week of her life.

At Roberta’s request cremation has taken place and a private funeral service will be held at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre. Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.  Messages of condolence and memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com
