Obituary of Giuseppa Iafrate

IAFRATE, Giuseppa – with family by her side at Bluewater Health, Giuseppa (nee Riggi) Iafrate, died peacefully on August 14, 2023 at the age of 83. Beloved wife of Domenico Iafrate. Loving mother of Anna (Lucio) Palma, and Angelo (Anna) Iafrate. Cherished Nonna of Giulio (Brenda) Palma, David Palma, Catherine (Richard) Sutherland, Daniela (Rob) France, and Anthony (Kelly) Iafrate. Special Bisnonna of Maxwell and Lyla Sutherland, Isabella Palma, and Aveah and Brayden France. Giuseppa will be deeply missed by her brothers Mario (Speranza) Riggi, Rocco (Annunziata) Riggi, Giuseppe (Donata) Riggi and sister Marisa (late Franco) DiNoro, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Giuseppa was predeceased by her parents Antonio and Loreta Riggi, infant daughter Anna Iafrate, brother Donato (Modesta) Riggi, and infant sisters Anna and Dolorata Riggi.

Born and raised in Vicalvi, Italy, Giuseppa and Domenico and their young family, immigrated to Canada in 1974, where they would settle and raise their family. She loved her family immensely and was most happy when surrounded by them. She loved to cook authentic Italian meals, socialize with friends, and tend to her incredible garden.

Family and friends will be received at McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia, on Thursday, August 17, 2023, from 5pm to 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Mercy Church on Friday, August 18 at 10am. Entombment at Our Lady Mercy Mausoleum.
