Obituary of David Robert John White

WHITE, David Robert John - Born in Toronto, Ontario on May 16, 1956, died June 1, 2023 in Sarnia, Ontario. Only two weeks after his 67 birthday, beloved David, loving husband to Connie, wife of 43 years, doting father to daughter Allison and son Shaun (Natalie), left suddenly after a recent diagnosis of lymphoma.

He passed away surrounded by his loving family, under the care team at Bluewater Health Palliative Care Medicine, led by Dr. Crombeen. Even until his final day, he remained sharp witted and full of humour, and kept everyone entertained with his stories, and one liners.

David was an enthusiast of many things, namely, history, but also travel, art and music…and of course sports! He passed along his passion for all these things to his children, and spent all of his free time doing these activities with his family and friends.

David had an over 30 year career in Public Health and Environmental Science, starting in Chatham-Kent, where he and Connie met, coaching baseball. They moved to Stratford, where they started to raise their family, before settling in Sarnia. David ended his career in London, working for the Middlesex-London Health Unit. He always spoke highly of the staff and students he mentored, and was excellent at keeping in touch, always happy to lend an ear to discuss problems.

In his early retirement years, David and Connie spent a lot of time travelling, splitting time between Sarnia and Palm Springs, with trips to visit England, where Shaun and Natalie reside, and Vancouver and Toronto to visit Allison. Also Alaska, Hawaii, and various parts of Europe.

Some of our best memories of David are from various family trips. He instilled this wanderlust in us all, and it is something we will continue to honour. We will meet you on the beach…please keep a spot for us with Sammy and Fitz. Love you to the moon and back! Connie, Allison, Shaun & Natalie xoxo

The family will be having a celebration for David on Saturday, July 8th in Sarnia, please email davidrjmemorial@gmail.com for details.
