Obituary of Shirley Anne Friesen

FRIESEN, Shirley Anne (Strawson) – Surrounded by her children, Shirley died at St. Mary’s General Hospital in Kitchener on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late Earl (Duke) Friesen (1985). Dear mother of Doug Friesen, Patti MacDougall (late Mike), Lori Friesen (Carol Cooper), David Friesen (Monica) and forever family, Heather. Loving grandmother of James Friesen (Emily), Rob Friesen (Bree), late Alan MacDougall, Katie Graham (Zach), Tim MacDougall, Kirk and Delana Friesen. Great-grandmother of Spencer, Miller, Chloe, Wes, Avery, Brynlee, Grayson and Lilah. Sister of Barb Tripp (late Gary) and Liz Schaefer (late Al). Sister-in-law of Evelyn Strawson and Doris Campbell. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Frederick and Mary Strawson and brothers Bobby, Ray and Fred.

Mom had three separate careers. Two in the medical field: the first was 9 years as a lab technician in Thunder Bay and the later for 21 years, office manager for Dr. Brian Bradley in Sarnia. Her proudest vocation was motherhood, which was her passion and for the largest part of her life, defined it. She was happiest when surrounded by kids, grand kids, and great grand kids. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Saturday, April 29, 2023 from  10-11:45 a.m.  Liturgy of the Word will be held immediately following in the chapel at 12 noon and will be livestreamed.
