Obituary of Margaret Elizabeth Greenaway
GREENAWAY (Hurley), Margaret Elizabeth – Marg passed away at home on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at the age of 85. Beloved wife of Kenneth for 63 years. Loving mother of Doug (Alison), Sarnia, Bill (Julie), Moonbeam and Mark (Michelle), Sarnia. Cherished grandmother of Cara Roy (Joel), Ryan Greenaway (Sarah), Erin Greenaway, Neil Greenaway (Taylor), Abigail Greenaway (Mitch), Ciara Greenaway (Adam) and Paige Greenaway. Great-grandmother of Lexus, Elliot and Levi. Sister of the Rev. Jack Hurley, Mary Jane O’Reilly (late Mike) and Nora McDonell (late Al). Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Thomas and Dorothy Hurley, brother Fred Hurley (Mary) and sisters Dorothy Hobin (Terry) and Catherine Park (Gus). Marg was born and raised in Sarnia. After graduation she worked for several years at Sarnia Hydro as secretary to the general manager. It was there she met her husband to be. They were married on May 7,1960 and went on to raise their three sons. Marg was a member of the Catholic Women’s League since 1965 and sang in the St. Benedicts Church choirs for over 40 years. She was a hockey mom and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in their many activities. Marg was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed the many get togethers with her family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving, caring individual by all who knew her. The family would like to thank Dr. MacSweeney and all the palliative care team as well as a special thank you to Jen and the PSW’s and medical staff from Bayshore Health for the kindness and compassion shown to Marg during her illness. Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Benedict’s Church on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 10 a.m. Cremation will follow and Marg’s ashes will be buried in Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
