Obituary of Federico Benacquista

BENACQUISTA, Federico “Fred” - Peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Federico died at Bluewater Health on Monday, February 13, 2023 at the age of 98 . Beloved husband of the late Maria (2013). Dear father of Emilio (Gabriella) Benacquista and Rosa Bosilo. Nonno of John (Wendy) Bosilo, Christina (Joshua) Bosilo, Cathy (Adrian) D'Angela, Laura (Justin) Benacquista and David Benacquista. Great-grandfather of Jace, Talia, Mateo, Marcus, Arianna, Noah and Chloe. Brother-in-law of Nancy Longo. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Also missed by his favorite family dog Skippy.  Predeceased by his parents Rosa & Guiseppe Benacquista. 

Fred was a labourer with Local 1089 and the Boilermakers Union from 1951 until his retirement 1989. Fred’s family was the most important thing to him.  Spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him great joy. He was a dedicated member with the San Rocco committee.  Fred was an avid gardener and enjoyed making his homemade wine.   He loved to go for drives in the car, especially under the bridge.  Always there to help others, Fred was a very giving, friendly man.  He was a founding member of the Dante Club.

We will forever miss his smiling face and long chats.

Visitation will be held  at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431. N. Christina St., Sarnia on Friday, February 17^th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Brian Jane at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, February 18^th at 11:00 a.m.  Entombment Our Lady of Mercy Mausoleum.
