Obituary of Hazel Cataford

CATAFORD, Hazel (Howard) – With broken hearts we say farewell to the Matriarch of the Cataford family. Beloved wife of the late Roger Cataford (2014), her husband of sixty-three years. Hazel was born in 1931 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and moved to Schreiber, ON where she met the love of her life Roger. Together they created a home in Sarnia where they raised their 9 children. Hazel was the ultimate homemaker and the toughest woman we know with the warmest heart. She led a practical and very creative life. She was always physically active, from cycling to swimming. She loved the summers she spent at the cottage with her family. Hazel was a conscientious citizen who lived her faith every day. She will be dearly missed by her children; Louise Barrons (Dan), Dean Cataford (Grace), Terry Cataford (Nancy), Mickey Cataford (Cathy), Glenn Cataford (Tsige), Curtis Cataford (Kelly), Ginnie Ruypers (Mike), Keith Cataford (Lorrie) and Julie Pecora (Robert), her 25 grandchildren; Joe Barrons (Rebecca) and Liza Barrons (Adam), Martin Cataford and Andrew Cataford (Stephanie), Melissa, Blake, Max, Justin, Amanda and James Cataford, Loleta and Courtney Cataford, Emily Potter (Greg), Jake Cataford, Olivia Steinman (Trevor) and Natalie Perreira (Mike), Mimi Ruypers (Adam) and Ginger Ruypers, Alex Cataford (Katie), Colin Cataford (Jade), Carly Androschuk (Zach) and Mitchell Cataford and Elliot Pecora (Melissa) and Marlowe Pecora (Randy). Great-grandmother of 31. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents William and Gertrude Howard, her brother Fred Howard (H.M.C.S Ottawa) and sister Florence Radley and by her infant grand-daughter Madeleine Cataford (1989). Hazel’s family would like to thank the staff of Vision Nursing Home for the loving care given to mom during her stay there. Cremation has taken place.
