Brian Hewitt

Obituary of Brian Crawford Hewitt

For a man that had a such a zest for life, it was a difficult time for Brian Hewitt to leave his family and friends.  On September 28, 2022, Brian, at age 81, ended his fight with heart disease which started with a severe heart attack at age 38 and ultimately resulted in heart failure. His many health issues were complicated by end stage renal disease during the past year.  Brian died at 5:15 p.m.EST at his home in Labelle Florida during Hurricane Ian.

Brian was on Peritoneal Dialysis leaving behind solution that is used daily for patients.  A young man that was evacuated from a nearby barrier island and unable to return due to the aftermath of the Hurricane was in dire need of this life saving solution.  Through the network of the Dialysis Center he found out that Brian’s solution was available and was very thankful. Such a beautiful end to Brian’s amazing life.

His grandchildren, children, extended family and many friends contributed their memories of Brian at his 75th Birthday Celebration.  From this booklet are some of the words given first hand.   “He was a role model of hard work and dedication, with words of wisdom and bucket loads of common sense.  He was the coolest, awesome Papa that was caring, lovable and funny.  He was a good friend. He positively impacted the lives of people from around the globe.  All around great guy. His love of the water and boating was cited by a friend as ‘The best captain ever.’  by Grandchildren as ‘Papa the Sailorman’. He was a success in the business world and often referred to as an Entrepreneur.  Brian will be remembered in his hometown for community service working with the Service Club of Sertoma Club of Sarnia and with the Lambton Association for the Deaf.

Brian and his wife (Peggy, nee Voisey) have 27 Great Grandchildren and 11 Grandchildren. They have shared so many milestones and adventures over 63+ years.   Their children Loraine – St. Thomas, Ontario, David – Sarnia, Ontario and Daniel- London, Ontario and their offspring will miss Papa and cherish memories of quality times together. Brian is predeceased by his sister Anne McEachen nee Hewitt and brother Ronald Hewitt. He is survived by his sister Mary Chappell nee Hewitt.
