Obituary of Oscar Jose Medeiros Bento

BENTO, Oscar Jose Medeiros – Peacefully at Sumac Lodge, Oscar Bento died on Monday, May 30, 2022 at the age of 85.  Beloved partner of Pat Kidd.  Loving father of Oscar Bento Jr. Toronto, Roberto Bento, Sarnia and Eileen Bento, Toronto.  Cherished Vavó of Liam and Alexis.  Dear brother of Helena Bento & her husband Vosco and Analia Furtado.  Oscar will be lovingly missed by Pat’s family, David Kidd & his wife Tammy, and their sons Parker & Isaac.  Also survived by many cousins in Sarnia and Portugal.  Predeceased by his parents Manuel & Maria Bento and his brother Manuel Bento.

Oscar grew up on the beautiful Azore islands of Portugal and ultimately found his way to Sarnia where he worked as a Stationary Engineer for Polysar and Bayer before retiring in 2002. Oscar was an amazing cook and winemaker, spoiling family and friends with his signature dishes, delicious homemade sauces and magical port wine. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Sumac Lodge for the exceptional and compassionate care they gave to Oscar for the time he was there.

Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St, Sarnia on Sunday, June 5, 2022, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.  A Funeral Service will be held following visitation in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel at 2:00 p.m.  Cremation to follow with a private interment at Lakeview Cemetery at a later date.
