Lillian McAlpine

Obituary of Lillian Elaine McAlpine

McALPINE, Lillian “Lily” - Passed peacefully at Bluewater Health on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at the age of 88. Loving mother of Gary McAlpine (Sue), late Ric McAlpine (Becky), late Mike McAlpine (Janice), Kelly McAlpine (Gee Bramwell) and Susan Emilio (Joe). She was grandmother to 9 and great-great-grandmother to 8. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by the father of her children, Mike McAlpine, her parents Ernie & Alice Praill and sister & brother-in-law Jean & Walter Robb. She was a stay-at-home mother for all five children and had an unexpected sense of humour that made you laugh. She preferred walking to driving and that kept her in great shape right up until her last few days. She loved singing along to the radio, watching old movies and was an avid Tiger Woods fan. She could knit anything - we have acres of afghans and stockpiles of slippers to remember her by. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Greensmith’s team for timely interventions, Police 911 for ensuring her well being, Ambulance 911 for their caring and professionalism, Lambton EMS for their multiple expert responses, the Alzheimer’s Society of Sarnia for their much needed guidance, the dedicated staff of Bluewater Health including those in the ER, the medical ward, patients accounts and especially to the exceptional staff of the Cognitively Complex Care ward - Sarnia-Lambton is fortunate to have that safe area for diagnosis and treatment of our vulnerable people. They enriched Lily’s last five months of life having treated her like family - we’re told she may have missed her calling because she excelled during their dramatic arts activities.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. with interment to follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. For those who wish, they may send memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society, 420 N. East St., Sarnia, N7T 6Y5.

Arrangements entrusted to McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 519-344-3131. Messages of condolence and memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com

May she be at peace
