The last “Boy Scout” Big Al never lied to me as a child. He was forthright and would stand up and make his voice heard for those who couldn’t. I proudly inherited his massive heart and boisterous laughter. Allan Brogden always welcome family and friends of family to dine, spend the night. recite warm past memories and gave a Wondrful example of a role model for everyone to enthusiastically embrace.

I worked for Al as a teenager at A.B. Brogden. My first job! He was a wonderful, fun, larger than life man with a great love for his family. He was very patient with me!

Al and his parents and brothers were friends of the Olacke family. Al, Ed and Bruce used to play hockey on our outdoor rink in Sarnia on Kathleen Ave. Al's brother Ed often took me for rides on his motocycle. We swam at their parents property out in Bright's Grove. I am sorry to hear of his passing although it has been many years since I saw him. I remember his electical business. HUGS and LOVE to the family.

We fondly remember Al for his enthusiasm, public service, love of sports, and love of family. He also had a very principled approach to all of his endeavors. We always admired his electrical genius--a consummate engineer and business person. We enjoyed many parties on the beach and trips with Lynne and Al. He was fun to be around. He loved sports, had a wicked tennis forehand, long golf drives and an aggressive attack on the ski hills. Loved seeing him in his corvette. He will be sorely missed. My sincere condolence to Lynn and Family . Al was a great friend and mentor to me and could always count on him for good solid advice. We had so many good times at The Hockey Suite, Golfing and of course Sailing !! He always had good solid advice and helped me often in my business and greatly appreciated his rock solid advice. Al was one of the great all time puzzlers. He could quickly slip into the alpha state while exercising his mind. He was part of the group while sometimes hanging a little apart. He delighted in his very particular engineers mindset, seeing how the parts interconnected and fit together. He was a great support for me in sharing all he understood about the ins and out of running a business. I felt I could always lean on him for astute answers to questions I had about how to make it all work. I can see the big grin on his face when he took us sailing on Lake Huron or skiing down a hill. And he jiggled with glee when he slipped into the Pacific Ocean here in California. “ I always wanted to swim in all the oceans”. I can remember him tossing the kids in the swimming pool and tossing himself in the waves of Lake Huron. I think he was happiest by and in the water. I remember Kim and I doubling over with laughter when we shone our flashlights on Lynne and Al on the front porch at 297 Old Oak Road when they came home from a date and started kissing. What bratty sisters we were. I think he was the first man to teach me how to dance. He was very kind to my mother and father. I appreciate his forbearance. Al was larger than life. I remember him telling me about writing his book “I Alone” in bath room breaks while on a ski trip with his buddies. Actually he was never alone. He was surrounded by a loving family who cared for him quirks and all. I miss his smile. M
