Obituary of Eduino Leal

LEAL, Eduino – Eduino passed away at Marshall Gowland Manor on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of the late Maria Conceico Bettencourt (August 20, 2021). Dear father of Lucy Chaves (Robert), Elizabeth Belanger (Jeff), Cindy Leal-Gordon (Delroy) and the late Mario Leal. Loving grandfather of Stephanie Chaves, Leslie Chaves, Brent Belanger (Jackie), Jordan Belanger (Elena), Tyler Belanger and Camden Gordon. Great-grandfather of Blythe, Madeline and Gretchen Belanger. Brother of Olimpio Leal, Elizeu Leal and Eulalia Garcia. Predeceased by parents Alfredo & Edalina Leal, brothers Gabriel and Alfredo Jr. and sisters Dilovinda, and Argentina. Eduino and Maria came to Canada from Portugal in 1969 and started their new life here in Sarnia. Eduino was a carpenter for many years. He learned the trade from his dad beginning at age 12. He had a huge passion for creating beautiful pieces of furniture and loved working with oak. Eduino was very well known in the Portuguese community as someone who could be relied on to help with any renovations that were needed. Visitation will be held at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia on Monday from 3-5 p.m. Due to the restrictions of Covid19, a private family Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church with interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. Please note masks/face coverings are mandatory and social distancing will be enforced.
