Mary was a loving mother and grandmother. She cherished her time with her family. Mary was a faithful parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church, Sarnia for 45 years and was the secretary for many years. She was a dedicated volunteer for over 40 years with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Sarnia. Until the end her positive outlook and sense of humor persevered. Her generous nature was felt by many in the community. During her life, she was known for strong faith, character, compassion and fierce independence. She was commonly heard saying “you cannot out stubborn your mother”. She will also be remembered for her quick wit, sarcasm and strong will. We will never forget the many lessons she taught us.
Some of the lessons learned from Mary over the years:
- You can never have too many containers for leftovers
- You can always hang clothes out to dry, even in January
- Always send snail mail and remember birthdays
- Wine always tastes better with ice and ginger ale
- Be generous and help those in need
- Cranberry sauce is the perfect condiment
- Walk when you can if you are able
- Be grateful and don’t take anything for granted
- You can survive without a computer and microwave and dishwasher in the house
