Obituary of Daniel Medeiros

MEDEIROS, da Ponte Daniel – At Bluewater Health, Daniel Medeiros died on Friday, January 7, 2022, at the age of 66.  Beloved husband of Yvonne for 44 years.  Loving father of Paul Medeiros (Patty), Brad Medeiros (Melanie) and Christina Medeiros.  Cherished grandfather of Mikayla, Taylor, Ricki, Ella, Callum, Natalie and Emilia.  Dear brother of late Manuel Mederios (Irene), Sarnia, Maria Oliveira (late Joe), London, Joe Medeiros (Eduarda), Alvinston, Tony Medeiros (Alciria), Sarnia, Elvira Moniz, (Manuel), Portugal, Cremilde Ponte (late Ignel), Sarnia, Mariano Medeiros (Maggie), Sarnia, Sarah Ibrahim (late Mike), Windsor, Mary Jo Norman (Gord), Alberta.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews and lifelong friend Kim Pezzin. 

Daniel was the youngest son of ten children. He was 11 years old when his family immigrated to Canada setting up in Sarnia, Ontario. Daniel valued hard work and had a strong work ethic.  He was always a self-starter and started a painting business at the age of 16 which led to many other ventures in home renovation and yard work.  He had an unconditional love for his family and valued quality time spent together with family dinners and the very large “Annual Medeiros Family Reunion”.  He was a lifelong fan of the Montreal Canadiens and enjoyed his summer days in his garden.  He always put others ahead of himself and assisted many new immigrants coming into Canada.  He enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren.  During the summer months you would find him out back in his garden showing his grandchildren all the vegetables he has been growing.  He was adored by his granddaughters Natalie and Emilia and shared a special bond with them.

Daniel was a member of Labourers Local 1089 for over 30 years.  He was a dedicated employee of Chalmers Construction and made a lot of friends there.  Daniel was a longtime member and active volunteer for the Portuguese Club of Sarnia. 

Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia on Thursday, January 13, from 5-8 p.m. To attend the visitation, sign up is required at the following link https://signup.com/go/iUpUbug or call the funeral home at 519-344-3131 to reserve a time.  Space is limited.  Private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church.  Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
