Obituary of Carmelle Jacqueline St. Onge
ST. ONGE, Carmelle - It's with heavy hearts that we share the news of our mother's passing. Carmelle Jacqueline St. Onge passed away peacefully on November 6, 2021 at the age of 93 at Bluewater Health - Sarnia. She was most beloved by her family: husband Felix Ernest (1982); 5 children, Felix (Elizabeth), Robert (2015) (Evelyn), Lydia (Eric), Richard (Maryleigh), Michael (Annette); 16 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. She was born Carmelle Jacqueline Giroux and met Dad when he was just back in Timmins after being injured overseas in 1945. He and a friend were in a restaurant where Mom was a server. Dad, wanting a coffee, asked for a cup of mud (army slang talk settling in), when Mom said what?, Dad said in a loud voice, trying to embarrass her, that he wanted a cup of mud. She promptly went through the kitchen, out the back door, scooped some dirt, added hot water & served Dad stating that he was too rude for any further service. Dad was impressed & two days later asked Mom out on a date. Mom, always a spark, will be missed by all. A Celebration of Life for friends and family will occur in the coming months. So we say a sad farewell to a most wonderful human being … wishing you wonderful travels, Mom, as you reunite with Dad & Bob! A graveside service will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery on Friday, November 12 at 1 p.m. Mom was a great believer in food banks, donating groceries weekly after she shopped. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a food bank of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 519-344-3131.
