SMITH, Neil Watson – Suddenly at Bluewater Health, Neil Watson died on Friday, October 29, 2021, at the age of 89.  Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (2018).  Loving father of Steve Smith (Diane), Illderton, Gary Smith, Sarnia, Dave Smith, Sarnia and Karen Desrosiers (Greg), Sarnia.  Cherished grandfather of Nicholas (Marcia), Christopher, Jolaine, Ryan, Jessica, Amy and Matthew. Neil was a Millwright with Dow for many years.  He loved sports and was the first coach of Mooretown Flags. He volunteered lots of time to coaching hockey.  You had to keep your head up around Neil because he was quite the character and prankster.  Neil loved to tell a good joke and brought laughter to everyone.   His passion was his family and he never missed any of his children’s or grandchildren’s sporting events. Neil was a force to be reckoned with and he will be missed by all who loved and knew him.  Always ready to lend a helping hand, the world has lost one of the good guys.  Neil lived a very colourful life. The family would like to thank the staff at Vision Nursing Home for their compassionate care of Neil.

In keeping with Neil’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  A memorial celebration will take place at on November 27, 2021 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Polish Hall, 173 Exmouth St., Sarnia.  Please note that proof of double vaccination or  medical exemption will be required to attend.  Mask will be mandatory.   Arrangements entrusted to The McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, (519-344-3131).  As an expression of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice, 475 Christina St., N., Sarnia, N7T 5W3 or to Vision Nursing Home, 229 Wellington St., Sarnia, N7T 1G9.  Messages of condolence & memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com
