Obituary of Bertha Mary Nelson

NELSON, (Maczko) Bertha Mary (nee Gilmore) It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Bertha at Bluewater Health on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at the age of 87. Pre-deceased by her first husband, Stephen Joseph Maczko (1986) and wife and friend of Albert Nelson. Mother of five girls, Gale Osmond, Deborah (Jim) Woods, Cheryl (Terry) Chang, Brenda (Jerry) Gosselin and Christine (Trevor) Whitlock. Grandmother to Natalie, Trisha, Christopher, Dayna, Wesley, Brooklyn, Kendra and Kevin. Great grandmother to Leann, Madilyne, Zakary, Alexis, Mackenzie and Mia. Predeceased by her sister Jean Abram.

Bertha was employed as an office clerk for C.N. and then Imperial Oil. She enjoyed her early retirement years traveling south in the winter and to Nova Scotia in the summer. She took great pleasure in square dancing and sewing her dance outfits. She became an avid reader when she could no longer take part in those activities.

Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Please note that masks/face coverings are mandatory and maximum visitors at one time and social distancing will be strictly enforced.  Private service for the immediate and extended family members will take place at the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel and signup is required at https://signup.com/go/VSUDuht or call (519-344-3131 to reserve).  Interment to follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
