DONALDSON (Wotherspoon), Ethel Lillian – Ethel passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the age of 98. She was born in West Ham, London, England on May 18, 1923. Ethel was a British war bride and came to Canada in 1946. She and her late husband James “Aukey” Donaldson made their home together in St. John, New Brunswick. They moved to Sarnia in 1954. Ethel will be sadly missed by her children Lana Lind, Jim Donaldson (late Gail) and Cathy Hihn (John), son-in-law Barry Lind,  grandchildren Rebecca (Martin), William (Stacy), Michael, Dale (Jolene), Victoria and Madeline and great-grandchildren Darian, Melanie, Beckett and Charlie. She was predeceased by her parents Fred & Ellen Wotherspoon, husband Jim Donaldson, brothers Fred, Alf, John and Ernie and sisters Ellen and Ivy. Ethel was a homemaker and volunteered at St. Joseph’s Hospital Women’s Auxillary. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Women’s League. She and Jim were members of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 62. Mum loved her English Garden and loved feeding all the little critters that came to visit. She was a strong supporter of World Wildlife Fund, Sarnia Humane Society, Covenant House, Toronto and many, many others. Her favourite time of year was Christmas and always made the season bright and jolly for her family. A determined and resilient lady, she always wanted the best for her family. The family would like to thank Dr. Maddison and the staff of St. Joseph’s Hospice, Imelda and Heather from Bayshore Home Health and Hailie from Shine at Home for their compassion, care and support for our Mum.
