Obituary of Maria Marinaro

MARINARO, Alfia Maria (nee Spina)  – With her family by her side, Maria Marinaro died peacefully at home on Monday, October 4, 2021.  Beloved wife of the late Donato Marinaro (2018). Loving mother of Albert Marinaro & his wife Beverley and Vince Marinaro, Sarnia.  Cherished grandma/nonna of Robert & his wife Anita, London, Joseph & his wife Caitlyn, Corunna and Michael, Oakville.  Proud great-grandmother/bisnonna of Cruz, Monroe and Jett Marinaro and Luca and Colton Marinaro. Sister-in-law of Italia Spina, Pt. Edward.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Italy.  Predeceased by her parents Filippo & Concetta Spina and brother Vittorio Spina and her sister Venera Cocco.

 Maria immigrated from Italy with her husband in 1958, settling in Sarnia.  She worked in maintenance at Polysar for over 35 years.  Maria was a life long member of the Dante Club and the Dante Club’s Women’s Association.  Family was most important to Maria.  She was a phenomenal mother and very giving person. Maria loved to cook for whoever came through the door.  Spending time in her garden brought her great joy.  She will be forever loved and missed by her family and friends. 

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 10, 2021, from 1-4 p.m. at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church.  Attendance at the church Mass is limited so sign up to attend is required at the following link https://signup.com/go/pzkjxUZ or call the funeral home at 519-344-3131.  Private Entombment at Our Lady of Mercy Mausoleum. Please note that masks/face coverings are mandatory and social distancing will be strictly enforced.
