Obituary of Maria Conceicao Leal

LEAL (Bettencourt), Maria Conceicao – Maria passed away suddenly at home on Friday, August 20, 2021 at the age of 87. Beloved wife of Eduino. Dear mother of Lucy Chaves (Robert), Elizabeth Belanger (Jeff), Cindy Leal-Gordon (Delroy) and the late Mario Leal. Loving grandmother of Stephanie Chaves, Leslie Chaves, Brent Belanger (Jackie), Jordan Belanger (Elena), Tyler Belanger and Camden Gordon. Great-grandmother of Blythe and Madeline Belanger. Predeceased by parents Antonio & Francesca Bettencourt, and sisters Maria Izaltina Bettencourt and Maria Alzeria DaCunha. Maria and Eduino came to Canada from Portugal in 1969 and started their new life here in Sarnia. Visitation will be held at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia on Monday from 5-7 p.m. Due to the restrictions of Covid19, a private family Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church with interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. Please note masks/face coverings are mandatory and social distancing will be enforced.
