Obituary of Antoinette Conroy
Marie Anna Antoinette “Toni” (Berube)
March 26, 1927 - July 25, 2021
While holding her daughter Diane’s hand tight until the end Toni (94) was reunited with her husband of 73 years, Gordon (October 2020). Mom was never the same without dad and missed him every single day that she had to live without him. Toni has also left behind, her daughter Joyce Reid, sons Bill and Jim Conroy, son-in-law Kevin Herron, twelve grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Toni spoke often of people she cherished who had gone before her: her father Adelard and mother Henedine, dear sister Jackie, and brother Ross. Toni, the eldest of three children, was born in Hearst On. Toni and Gordon met in Smooth Rock Falls. Falling in love there, Toni married Gordon and they traveled to Sarnia on their honeymoon in September of 1947. Loving the area, they decided to stay. Family was important to both Toni and Gordon and they remained close to their parents and siblings. Toni was an active member at Sacred Heart Church and a lifetime member of the Catholic Woman’s League until she could no longer attend. She will be missed by the nieces and nephews that came to visit, skype, or call her, especially after losing her beloved Gordon. She will be remembered by Gordon’s family who kept in touch with her. Toni will also be missed by several grandchildren that she was especially close to and who kept in contact with her until her final days. Never to be separated again Toni is reunited with Gordon. She is finally free from pain. She expressed many times her desire to be with dad again and talk to him as she always did. In remembering this, there is some peace knowing that she is now with him. Visitation at McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St. Sarnia on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. Private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church. Interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. Please note that masks/face coverings are mandatory and maximum visitors at one time and social distancing will be strictly enforced. In honor of our dear mother, donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice, 475 N. Christina St., Sarnia, N7T 5W3 where angels work and volunteer or to Canadian Mental Health Association (Geriatric), 210 Lochiel St., Sarnia, N7T 4C7.
