Obituary of Karren Holdaway

HOLDAWAY, Karren Marie (nee Dawdy) – It is with deepest sadness that we announce Karren’s passing at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at the age of 59.  We are rejoicing in the fact that she is now in the loving arms of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and is no longer suffering. She passed peacefully with her family at her side.  

Karren was the loving mother of Chris Holdaway & his wife Rebeka, of London, and Rebecca Kember & her husband Shem, of Petrolia, the cherished grandmother of Owen Kember & soon to be baby girl Kember, and the dear sister of Steven Dawdy & his girlfriend Carla Wilhoit, of Michigan. She was also the special aunt to Joshua & Jessica Pickering, chosen daughter of Louise Claeys, and was the loving niece, cousin, friend and neighbour of many. Karren was predeceased by her parents Hubert & Johanna Dawdy and her sisters Kelly & Susan Dawdy. 

Karren was an avid sports fan and player, playing many sports in her youth, being inducted into her local (Wallaceburg) sports hall of fame, and later on coaching and watching her children play. She enjoyed travelling, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed playing cards and board games, and was an avid reader.  Her proudest moment was becoming a grandmother and she cherished every moment she had with her grandson Owen, singing and playing with him. She will always be remembered for her contagious laugh, her giving and selfless spirit and her words of encouragement to everyone around her.  

Cremation has taken place. Private arrangements entrusted to The McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE (519-344-3131).
