Obituary of John Christopher Hummell

HUMMELL, John Christopher – Peacefully with his family by his side, John Hummell died at Bluewater Health on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the age of 70.  Beloved husband and best friend of Marion (nee Westgate). Dear son of Margaret Hummell, Sarnia. Devoted father of Robert (Melissa) Hummell, B.C., Brandy Hummell, B.C., late Danial Hummell, Shannon (Andrew) Iannone, Alberta.  Dear step-father of Barbara Dickieson (Tom Tombs), London, Dan (Trudy) Dickieson, Strathroy and Gord Dickieson, London.  Cherished grandfather of 15 and several great-grandchildren. Brother of Andrea Tesselaar, Forest, Gregory (Laurie) Hummell, Bright’s Grove and Maureen Hummell, Sarnia.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.   Predeceased by his father Robert Hummell, brothers Mark and Daniel M. Hummell and his sister Barbara Depencier.

 

John was a Chief Petty Officer with the Royal Canadian Navy for 32 years, last based in B.C. before retiring.  He was an avid golfer and loved to read and watch movies.  John cherished his time spent with family. 

 

Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia on Thursday, June 24th, 2021 from 7-9 p.m. To attend visitation, you must sign up at the following link: https://signup.com/go/sRfHqhN  or contact the funeral home at 519-344-3131.  Private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church.  Interment to follow at Hillsdale Cemetery, Petrolia.
