Obituary of Gertrude Watson

WATSON (Cannon), Gertrude Anne – Gertrude passed away with her family at her side at Bluewater Health Palliative Care on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late John Wellington Watson (2011). Dear mother of Laverne (Carole), Dave (Roseanne) and Marie (Grant Hall). She was the proud grandmother of Matthew (Corey), Travis (Jennifer), Rob (Sherri) and Wendy Hall (Mike) and great-grandmother of Bohdi, Milo, Riley and Carter.  Sister of Joseph Cannon (Charlotte), Florida. Sister-in-law of Thora MacDonald (Jim). Special friend of Jean Sauve (late Ray). Also surviving are many special nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents John & Lucy Cannon, brothers Louis (Jenny), James (Agnes), Andrew (Rita), John (Phyllis), Stratton (Kay) and sister Rita (Ned). Gertrude was proud to be a P.E.I girl. She moved to Sarnia with her mom and siblings after the war where she met John. Gertrude worked as a baker at A&P for 35 years. She was a long time volunteer with St. Benedict’s Apostolic Rosary Program, the St. Benedict’s breakfast program and the Canadian Cancer Society. She was a 70 year member of the Catholic Women’s League. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staffs of North Lambton Lodge, Trillium Villa and Palliative Care for the care and compassion shown to mom. Due to the restrictions of Covid19, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Benedict’s Church with burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
