Obituary of William Earl Newton

NEWTON, William Earl “Newt” - Passed away at the Bluewater Health Hospital in Sarnia, Ontario on March 19, 2021.  Beloved son of the late Edith “Tootsie” MacDuff and the late Keith Newton. Devoted brother to Olla, Dean (Valerie Fraser), Glen (Cecilia Tellis) and Glenda (Robin Vosatka). Cherished uncle to Kaitlin MacLeod, Alison Fraser, Graeme Fraser, Emma Fraser and Isobel Fraser, Colin Vosatka and James Tellis-Newton. Earl will be missed by his numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; especially his cousins Rick, Ralph and Patsy MacDuff of Sarnia, as well as many friends and co-workers.

Born March 4, 1953, Earl grew up in Montreal graduating from Riverdale High School and attended Sir George William’s University. He moved to Sarnia in the late 1970’s and worked at Cabot Carbon for 40 years, recently taking his retirement. Earl was a kind and gentle person who loved gardening, his trees and most of all, his family.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Telemetry Unit at the Bluewater Health Hospital who treated Earl with utmost compassion and care. This team made great efforts to ensure that Earl’s last days were as comfortable as possible.

Cremation has taken place. Earl’s ashes will be brought back to Eastern Ontario where he will be interred later this year.
