Obituary of Elie Arthur Bergeron

BERGERON, Elie Arthur 1924-2021 – With the deepest sorrow, the family announces the peaceful passing of their wonderful husband, father and grand-papa on February 3, 2021 at Vision Rest Home.  Predeceased by his loving wife Jeanne (2017).  Much loved father to Diane Steinman (Ron), Sarnia, Norm Bergeron (Shelley), Sarnia, Noel Bergeron (Melanie), Lansing, Michigan, Louise Richmond (Craig), Toronto. The best grand-papa to Danny, Maddy, Michelle Bergeron, Joel Richmond, and Alex & Jason Bergeron. Special great-grand-papa to Ayah & Mariam Richmond, and Morgan Bergeron. Special and loved brother to Marguerite Nadeau.  Loved brother-in-law of Rachelle & Yvon Bizier, Orleans, Collette Marquis & Elianne Marquis of Kapuskasing. Loved “Parrain” of Monique Leonard, Ottawa, and Monique Garon, Moonbeam. Also survived by many other nieces and nephews who all loved “mon oncle Elie”. Predeceased by first born son Dennis in 1948 – he is now in Heaven with his precious first-born. Predeceased by parents Philippe & Emilie Bergeron, brothers Ferdinand, Rosaire, Lucien and Joseph-Aime Bergeron and sisters Cecile Fournier and Therese Bergeron.

Born in Moonbeam, Ontario to the late Philippe & Emilie Bergeron in a family of 9 children. Married the love of his life, Jeanne on August 12, 1947 and made Kapuskasing their home raising 4 children while working at Spruce Falls Paper Mill.  With a vision of a better life for their young family, Elie & Jeanne moved to Sarnia in 1963. Elie quickly became well known in the Carpenters Union as a talented carpenter with a friendly disposition and smiling face. He also became involved in his new community by joining the Knights of Columbus eventually becoming a 4th Degree Knight. For many years he devoted his time volunteering with the Knights. He also joined St. John Ambulance where he was an active volunteer.

Member of Sacred Heart Church, where he served mass until the age of 88.  Previous member of St. Thomas D’Aquin parish since 1963. Elie & Jeanne were also members of Club D’Age D’or enjoying their many friends.

Elie loved his family – time spent with his family was so special to him – he shared his talent of carpentry with them, helping out whenever he could. Elie & Jeanne also enjoyed years of travelling to Arizona and Florida – sun, beach & family visits brought him great joy. He loved biking, talking to people and will be well remembered by many for his friendliness and beautiful smile.

Sincere thank you to Vision Rest Home for the excellent care they provided to our dear Dad, especially during the trying times of a pandemic. He was so happy living at Vision and loved all that you did for him. Thank you to Dr. Gannon, Ashley Bernard and all the staff of Vision for being true, caring professionals and also our extended family – what a blessing you all are!
