Barbara Jean White (nee Abel)

Passed away January 7 2021 at the age of 87 peacefully at home looking out at her beloved Lake Huron. Survived by daughters Wendy Houtby (Bruce), Tracy White, Melissa Alber (Leo) and Jocelyn Moberly (Scott). Grandchildren Sandra Houtby, Richard Houtby (Brean), Heather Beattie, Robert Beattie, Jessica Alber (Ben), Patrick Alber (Caresse), Barbara Alber, Samantha Moberly, Mary Moberly and 9 Great Grandchildren. Predeceased by Husband Robert (2010) and Daughter Pamela (2008).

We are so appreciative to you for providing your love, care and support allowing Mom to fulfill her wish of staying in her home.  Thank you to LHIN, VON, Bayshore Home Health and the palliative team. Thank you to Dr. Kim, Nurse Debbie, Maricel and Amy MacLean -NP. Barbara's career spanned many years with the LKDSB teaching at Errol Road, Bright’s Grove and London Road Elementary Schools.  In 1988 she did a one year teaching exchange in Perth Australia.

She loved to travel.  Barb and Bob travelled with friends to the Caribbean and Europe. They vacationed for many winters in Venice Florida.  She was able to fulfill one of her “bucket list” items and kissed the Blarney Stone in Ireland. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Saturday, August 14, 2021 from 10-11:30 a.m. Please note that masks/face coverings are mandatory and maximum visitors at one time and social distancing will be strictly enforced. Following a private family funeral service, a public interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery at 12:45 pm.
