Obituary of Claire Marie Burchell

BURCHELL, Claire Marie – Claire Marie Burchell passed away peacefully on Friday, November 27, 2020 at the age of 76. Beloved daughter of the late Mary & Arthur. Loving sister to Beverly St. Jean and Ernest Burchell. Predeceased by her sisters Patricia Arnold and Marilyn Mclean and her brother Arthur Burchell. Special Aunt to Lori, David, Lisa, Shawn, John, Sarah, Lorna, Angel, Tammy, John, Willy, Bobby and Tonia. Claire had an enormous family and extended family, including Roger and Charlotte (Shy) Croteau, Theresa and the late Norm Munro, and the late Chuck and Colene Munro.

Claire will be missed by the many lives she touched as a cousin, friend, and coworker. She made friends easily and everywhere she went, she found a friend to stop and chat with.

Claire loved her work family and friends at Wawanosh, where she served the community for over 40 years. She also enjoyed her volunteer work with The Inn of the Good Shepherd.  She had no intention of ever retiring.

When at home with Roger and Shy, she enjoyed knitting, helping with the dishes, spoiling the dog, singing, and dancing, and admiring her extensive jewelry collection. She especially loved getting her nails done by Theresa, shopping with Shy, ‘helping’ Roger by putting things away around the house, or helping Cindy look after foster dogs. 

Due to COVID 19 a visitation and mass will not be held. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will take place on Friday, December 4 at 1:15 p.m. at Resurrection Cemetery, Sarnia.  Face coverings and social distancing are required at the cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations, Sarnia & District Humane Society, 131 Exmouth St., Sarnia, N7T 7W8 or Community Living Sarnia-Lambton, Wawanosh Enterprises, 202-551 Exmouth St., Sarnia, N7T 5P6.
