Obituary of Jack Houlahan

Houlahan, John (Jack) Gerard - Passed away at Lambton Meadowview Villa, Petrolia, Ontario on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the age of 91. Beloved husband of Ruth (O'Donnell) Houlahan for 62 happy years. Loving father of Gary, Mike & his wife Stephanie, and Nancy and her husband Andrew. Cherished grandfather of Megan, Matthew, Jeremy, Gregory, Stephen, and Michael. Jack is one of eleven children of the late Joseph and Kathleen (McKeever) Houlahan. Brother of Ed (Marie) and Eugene (Doreen). Brother-in-law of Shirley and Linda. Predeceased by his siblings: Mary Theresa (Earl), Larry (Lillian), Reta (Steve), Jim, Madeline (Donald), Ann, Gerald and Joe.

Jack was born and raised on a farm in Shipka, Ontario. He worked for 34 years as a Lab Technician at Esso Research in Sarnia and was a member of Esso 5-pin bowling leagues for over 50 years. In retirement, he enjoyed working part-time with his son Gary as a caretaker at St. Benedict's Church, where he was a devoted long-time parishioner.

The family would like to express their profound gratitude to the staff at Lambton Meadowview Villa for their excellent care during Jack's stay with them. During this pandemic, they showed kindness and empathy to us and found ways to keep us connected with him.

 Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 from 7 to 9 p.m. Please note that masks/face coverings are mandatory and maximum visitors at one time and social distancing will be strictly enforced.  Private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Benedict’s Church. Interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
