Obituary of Antonio Sproviero

SPROVIERO, Antonio – Surrounded by his family, Antonio died peacefully at Bluewater Health, on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at the age of 94.  Beloved husband of Luisa (nee Scarpelli) for 64 years.  Loving father of Frank Sproviero & his wife Cherie, Sarnia, Anthony Sproviero & his wife Kelly, Sarnia and Teresa Cessford & her husband Michael, Ottawa.  Cherished Nonno of Nicholas & Franco Sproviero, Rebecca Hurst (Mark) & Anthony Sproviero, Sarnia and Erin, Katlyn & Kristen Cessford, Ottawa. Great-nonno of Bryce Hurst. Dear brother-in-law of Teresa Sproviero, Seattle.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents Pietro & Teresa Sproviero and his brother Nicola Sproviero and his sister Maria Sproviero.

Antonio was a long-time member of Local 1089 of which he served as the Assistant Business Agent for many years.  He was one of the founding members of the Dante Club.  An avid sports fan, Antonio loved to watch hockey and soccer and was a fan of the Sarnia Sting.  Antonio loved his family and was extremely proud of his grandchildren.  He was always supportive of their endeavours.  Antonio could always be seen rink side or on the soccer sidelines cheering his grandchildren on.  Spending time in his garden gave him great pleasure and he was always sharing the fruits of his labour with his family and friends.  He considered himself an excellent wine maker and was always offering up one his bottles for anyone to enjoy.

Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia on Sunday, October 25, 2020 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Please note that masks/face coverings are mandatory and maximum visitors at one time and social distancing will be strictly enforced.  Private Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Mercy Church followed by entombment at Our Lady of Mercy Mausoleum.  As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to Bluewater Health Foundation, Palliative Care, 89 Norman St., Sarnia, N7T 6S3.  Messages of condolence and memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com
