Obituary of Douglas Neely
NEELY, G. Douglas – Doug passed away peacefully at Bluewater Health Palliative Care on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Gale (Cooke), Point Edward for 55 years. Dear father of Stacy Neely, Point Edward and Brad Neely (Jane Braddon), Sarnia. Brother of Pat Mosey (Bob), Port Perry and Bruce Neely (Willi), Sarnia. Brother-in-law of Ron Cooke (Kathy), Red Lake, ON. Also surviving are extended family members in Sarnia and Forest including Dale Dew (Jen), Forest. Doug will also be missed by neighbours Murray and Linda Johnston. Doug enlisted with the Merchant Marines serving the Great Lakes on multiple freighters for Imperial Oil. Following his time aboard ship, he hired on with Raymond International Foundation in the US. He then became a member of Local 793 Operating Engineers in 1973 until his retirement. He was a self taught master craftsman and was able to create beautiful and functional woodwork. Doug will be sadly missed by his many friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Glen Maddison, Dr. Allison Crombeen, Dr. William Gannon and the V.O.N. staff that helped Doug. At Doug’s request no visiting or services will be held.
