Obituary of Edmond Chamberlain

CHAMBERLAIN, Edmond Joseph – It is with saddened hearts that we announce the death of our loving Father and Papa, on July 31, 2020 at Bluewater Health, at the age of 92. He was predeceased by his dear wife of 67 years, Dora (Lavigne) in July 2016. Much loved Dad to Sharon Sugden and her husband Karl of Waterloo, and Wayne Chamberlain and his wife Susan of Sarnia. Ed had 4 grandchildren of whom he was very proud: Shannon Dupuis (TJ) of Corunna, Jamie Chamberlain (Katie) of London, Jessica Huhn (Daniel) of Germany, and Erin Chamberlain (Michael) of Toronto. He was blessed with 6 great-grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter: Dylan, Jace, and Kyle Dupuis; Cohen and Jack Chamberlain; Levi and Myla Huhn. Ed was born in Bathurst, NB in 1928, the eldest son of 13 children to Raymond and Mary Chamberlain. He was very proud of his eastern Canada roots and never stopped referring to it as “home”. Ed leaves behind brothers Gerard and Jerry, sisters Vicky and Eleanor, all of Bathurst and sister Diane Vautour of Point Edward and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers Alcide, Lionel and Maurice and sisters Jeanne-Mance, Lucinda, Rose-Marie as well as an infant sister. Ed was a longtime devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Parish. Heartfelt thanks to the incredibly special nurses and helpers on the 5th floor CCOG unit at Bluewater Health, where Ed spent the last 21 months. The love and compassion shown to our dad, especially during these last few months when we couldn’t be there, will never be forgotten. Due to the restrictions of Covid 19 a private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Church with burial to follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. Masks/face coverings must be worn. Arrangements entrusted to the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N.  As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice, 475 Christina St. N., N7T 5W3.
