Obituary of Gerald Theophile Dignard

DIGNARD, Gerald Theophile – Peacefully at Trillium Villa Nursing Home, Gerald Dignard died on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at the age of 98.  Beloved husband of Stella (nee Bellanger).  Loving father of the late Deborah Dignard (March 13, 2020).  Dear brother of Florence “Flo” Narhgang, Kitchener and Jeanette Bourque, Petrolia.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents Albert & Louise Dignard and his sister Victoria Potvin.  

 

Drafted as a young man, Gerald spent 5 years as a Sergeant with the Canadian Army. Gerald was a Section Assistant in Environmental Sciences with Dow Chemical for 35 years retiring in 1982.  He loved his work and was proud to have helped start the Dow Credit union many years ago.  Gerald enjoyed reading, walking and always enjoyed a good game of golf.  He was a quiet and loving man who was blessed to have been married to Stella, the love of his life for 72 years. He will be lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

 

Cremation has taken place.  A private family interment will take place at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 10 a.m. with Deacon Lyle Lalonge.   As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to Sarnia Blessings, c/o Lighthouse Community Church, 152 Parker Street, Sarnia, Ontario N7T6G1.  Cheques can be written out to Sarnia Blessings, or etransfers to sarniablessings@outlook.com. Tax receipts provided with full name and mailing address. 

 

Sarnia Blessings is a community service that prepares and delivers healthy meals to elderly and vulnerable individuals of Sarnia/Lambton, (Stella being one of the recipients of the meals).
