Obituary of Albert Peter Stephen Marcy
MARCY, Albert Peter “Bert” – Bert passed away peacefully at Parkwood Veterans’ Care Hospital, London on Friday, June 19, 2020 at the age of 98. Beloved husband of 43 years of the late Mary Marcy (Donohue) (1990) and Rose Hayes, Mooretown. Dear father of Stephen Marcy (Jane Pickard), Ilderton, Michael Marcy (Mary), London and Mary Theresa Ciosk (John), Guelph. Loving grandfather of Ryan Marcy (Megan), Sean Marcy (Melissa), Erin Emmerson (Patrick), Teresa Marcy (Andrew Scott), Nadine Poulos (Demetre), Christopher Ciosk and Mary Ann Ciosk. Great-grandfather of Benjamin, Cameron and Kaelyn Marcy, Lauren, Ryder, Blake and Natalie Marcy, Mackenzie Emerson, Thomas and Jacob Poulos. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Albert (1991) & Maria Marcy (1985) and sisters Marie DiFederico (2012)(Moreno, 2004) and Anne Bukovinsky (2019) (Joseph, 1990). Bert was born in Spisska Teplica, Slovakia on December 22, 1921. He served with the R.C.A.F during W.W. II, being posted in Trenton, Chilliwack and Dartmouth. He owned and operated Marcy Printing in Sarnia from 1947 until his retirement in 1985. In both his business and personal relationships Bert treated everyone with respect and compassion. He led by humility and hard work and found success in helping and serving others. Bert was active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Knights of Columbus. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church for 92+ years and served as a trustee on the Catholic School Board. Bert was an avid golfer and spent many hours in retirement on the golf course with friends and family. He always enjoyed a hearty laugh and loved life. Bert’s family would like to extend many thanks to the staff at Parkwood Veterans’ Care Hospital, London for their outstanding and compassionate care during his stay there. Due to the current COVID 19 restrictions the family will have a private service. Interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
