Obituary of Osciel Ulises Montalban

MONTALBAN, Osciel Ulises (Maluenda) – Peacefully with his family by his side, Osciel Montalban, died at home on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at the age of 79. Beloved husband of Juana. Loving father of Marie (Lyman) Dolan, Ximena Olave, Patricia (John) D’Angela and Ricardo Montalban. Cherished grandfather of Jimmy, William, Christian, Stella, Annisa, Yasna and Nicole. Predeceased by his father Pedro Montalban Codoceo and his mother Juana Maluenda Muñoz and by 6 brothers and 3 sisters. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews in Chile. Chelo was a soccer enthusiast who played on soccer teams in Chile and then as a player and coach in Canada for the Latinos team. As a handsome young man living in Copiapo, he enjoyed taking to the streets on his motorcycle. He also enjoyed playing guitar for family and friends. When he immigrated to Canada in 1974, he found work where he could to provide for his family and in later years returned to school to pursue a new career as a Process Operator. He was a hardworking man and was never afraid to take on a challenge. He enjoyed weekend gatherings with his family and friends as there was always a fun party to be had. He was a frugal man in a funny way, always making his family laugh by saving a buck where he could, we loved him for that. He enjoyed fishing trips with his grandson, taking the family to the horse races, playing golf and all you can eat restaurants. He looked forward to the noise and laughter of summer barbeques by the pool. After retirement he enjoyed spending time with his wife and fur babies Bahia and Coco going for walks to Centennial Park and under the bridge. He enjoyed watching his family grow and time spent together with friends and the many people whose lives he impacted along the way. He truly was the king of his castle by including his family in everything he did. He will always be remembered for having a positive spirit, a fun nature, and a constant smile on his face. Your wife, children and grandchildren will miss you immensely and your memory will always live in our hearts. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Lilly for his compassion, the staff of the Oncology Department at Bluewater Health, the VON nurses especially Laura, the PSW’s Camille, Dawn and Bob and all the many others that helped care for our father and give him quality of life in his final months. Due to the unfortunate situation with COVID 19, arrangements are private. Cremation has taken place and interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Bluewater Health, Oncology Department, 89 Norman St., Sarnia, N7T 6S3.
