Madalene “Grace” Easter (Cook) (Bond)
It is with great sadness that the family of Grace Easter announce her peaceful passing at Kingston Health Sciences Centre, Palliative Care, on Monday, April 20, 2020, at the age of 101 years. Beloved wife of the late James Leslie Bond (1977) and the late Robert George Easter (2006). Loving and cherished mother of Elizabeth (Betty) Leonard (Jim) of Fort Myers, Florida and Sam Bond (Wilma) of Chatham. Dear grandmother of Lynda Brooker (Rick), James Bond, Elizabeth (Beth) Lee (Aston), the late Darrell Bond, Heather Tape (Jack) and Patricia (Patty) Dirosolini (Dan), 9 great-great grandchildren (one deceased) and 3 great-great-great grandchildren. Caring stepmother of the late James Easter (Donna), Kevin Easter, Mark Easter, and Karen Crich (Will), their children and grandchildren. Predeceased by her sisters, Florence Martine (Charles), Vera Easter (Bob), Verna Meredith (Oliver) and brother, Roy Cook (Anne). A special aunt to her nieces and nephews. Fondly remembered for her caring and kindness by the many friends whose lives she touched.
Grace was born July 4, 1918 to Ada (Barks) and Daniel Cook in Chatham, Ontario. She lived in Chatham Township during her childhood and for most of her adult life before moving to Sarnia following her marriage to Robert Easter in 1991. In 2014 she moved to Briargate Seniors Community in Amherstview, Ontario.
A very special thank you to the entire staff at Briargate for their generosity, kindness, and nurturing in making Briargate a warm, safe, active and comfortable environment that Grace lovingly called home. Sincere appreciation to the Kingston Health Sciences Centre, Palliative Care Team for their compassion, care, and understanding and to the Spiritual Team for arranging several virtual visits with Grace and her family. Cremation has taken place. A celebration to remember and honour Grace’s life and interment in Arnold Cemetery, Louisville, will be held at a later date.
