Obituary of Norman Claude Dunwoodie
Norman C. Dunwoodie, age 87, died peacefully in his sleep after a year long battle with lung cancer at St. Joseph’s Hospice Sarnia, Ontario. Predeceased by his beloved wife Hennie Dunwoodie and sister Pearl Hancox. Survived by special friend Vida Lester. Described by all who met him as a perfect gentleman, he was a proud and loving brother, father and friend of many. He will be greatly missed by his children Deborah Shearer (Rick), Valerie McCarty and Angela Lambert (Chris), 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, as well as brother Dan Dunwoodie (late wife Marilyn) of Ottawa and sister Sheila Elliot (Ian) of Montreal and countless nieces and nephews. He moved to the Sarnia-Lambton area in the early 60’s and formed many relationships through his time as a draftsman in the chemical valley, his homebuilding business (Norwood Homes) and his interest in music and RC planes. He was a past Master and Chaplin at Liberty Lodge in Sarnia. He had a great love of the outdoors and nature, he would often be seen out walking along the lake in Bright’s Grove or under the bridge in Sarnia. He was a prolific gardener and he always made sure his property looked “Just so”. Thank you to all the wonderful doctors and staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice for the gentle, good humoured care provided. No funeral will be held at this time, a celebration jamboree may be planned for a future date. Donations can be made in his name to St. Josephs Hospice, 474 N.
